What is the weather in June?
Well… It’s Ireland.. So it could be 75 and sunny.. or 45 and rainy.. Or both on the same day. Dress in layers, wear good walking shoes and be flexible. We do not have any “formal” evenings. Polo shirts and khaki’s would be about the fanciest thing you would need to wear. Oh, and bring an umbrella. As they say, it only rains on the days of the week that end in a “y”.

Do I bring cash? What about credit cards?
Ireland is predominantly credit card based. I always recommend bringing some euro with you in case you need to make a quick purchase somewhere. You can often exchange it here at major banks, like Harris or Chase prior to arriving. Credit cards are widely accepted, just be sure to charge the amount in Euros, instead of dollars, as it usually saves on the currency conversion costs.

What about the hotels?
We are staying in 4-star hotels every night in great locations. There will be amenities nearby in case you need last minute things. Please note all costs are based on double occupancy. Single occupancy carries a higher cost in Europe.

What about the bus?
We are on a privately chauffeured mini-bus that holds a maximum of 18 people. We are not sharing with another group, and the bus is nimble enough to get us into and out of places that the large mega-bus tours can’t get to. It has large windows, seats people 2×2 down each side with a row of 4 seats at the rear, has USB chargers throughout, is air-conditioned, and is very comfortable.
Luggage capacity is 1, 20 kilo (45 lbs) bag per person in the cargo area and it also has room for personal items inside. There is no bathroom on the bus.

Do I have to work in real estate or be a Realtor to attend?
No, this trip is open to anybody who is interested in learning more about Ireland and having a great time with wonderful people in a magical place. We will have quite a few real estate related activities that can help grow your global business connections, but they are well spaced during the trip.

What about technology? Cell phones?
Most US cell carriers have international plans/options to enable your phones to work while in Ireland. Wi-fi is also abundant, and much cheaper to use vs. cel phone data whenever possible. We will set up a WhatsApp group chat as we get closer so everybody can communicate while in country.

Do they tip in Ireland?
Usually only tourists tip in Ireland.. And the service staff there do rely on it. 5-10% is the norm and often servers will simply cash out your credit card without offering you the ability to add a tip. (Which is why we recommend always having a few euro in your pocket).

What is VAT?
VAT , or Value Added Tax is a 23% (!!!!) tax that is added to nearly everything you may buy while in Ireland. There is no additional sales tax at the point of sale. So if an item is marked at 10 euro, it will be 10 euo, but that includes the 23% VAT. Some items are eligible for VAT-back, or a refund of your VAT, if you are taking them out of the country. When you shop, ask for your VAT-back voucher/card and you can complete it either online or at the airport to get some of the 23% back.

What about cancellations/refunds?
We understand plans change, things happen.. If you must cancel there will be a 5% administration fee taken for credit card processing/etc. The refund schedule is as follows:
Cancellations made 12 weeks or more prior to your first booking date – 100% refund Cancellations made less than 12 weeks and at least 8 weeks prior to your first booking date – 50% refund Cancellations made Less than 8 weeks prior to your first booking date – 0% refund.

What if I get sick? Health insurance?
Ireland has a public health system and a private care system both of which work very well. Whether they honor American health insurance plans is a very complex patchwork. If you have specific health concerns, please let us know and we will attempt to get you the best answers we can prior to the trip.

What is craic?
It’s not a drug.. It’s the Irish word for a good time, usually in a social setting, with music, dancing, and most often, a bit of alcohol. So after being part of John’s Kick Ass Trip To Ireland, you can say you’ve had some great craic in Ireland..

Let’s take a trip to remember.
